Cremation has been around a long time, starting in the 19th century, and is still done in many parts of the world. It does come in various forms, such as in India and Nepal. Their cremation is in the form of an open-air pyre, although you may more commonly know it as being carried out in a closed furnace. The cremator (industrial-sized furnace) is designed to cremate one body at a time, and it is not designed to do more. Of course, there can be the occasional exception, such as a mother and her child. But these are exceptional circumstances that would need to be discussed with the funeral party. The chamber itself is heat resistant due to the lining of heat-resistant refractory bricks. The body must be placed into a flammable coffin, which will allow for the body to be quickly slid into the cremator, making it safer for all of those involved. The body is then placed into the cremator as quickly as possible to avoid heat loss.
The average cremation costs range from $1,000 - $8,000. However, prices may differ with different funeral homes and funeral directors. To ensure that you are not surprised by unexpected costs, it is always best to invest in funeral insurance. A generally flawed notion about cremation is that when you choose a cremation service, you cannot have a traditional funeral. This can't have been further from the truth. In fact, when you choose cremation, you have more memorialization options instead. Cremation leaves behind around 5.3lbs of ash. This is returned to the deceased’s loved ones, who can then decide how to best honor the deceased in the way of their choice. Cremation has become increasingly popular amongst all countries in the world, with over 70% of the population opting for cremation services over burial. This is not only because the cost of cremation services is significantly lower than a burial but also because the process of arranging a cremation is often easier than that of a traditional burial.
